me

I guess the most interesting thing about me is that I grew up in Las Vegas, the daughter of an orchestra leader who played for all the major stars & production shows on the Las Vegas Strip. Thus, I spent lots of time backstage, in dressing rooms and in the orchestra pits of Las Vegas’ most glamorous showrooms.

Later, I worked in Vegas. I was the director of public relations at the Las Vegas Hilton. It was an incredible hotel and an incredible job. I helped promote major stars, boxing matches and over-the-top special events. The hotel had 12 restaurants, retail shops, a spa–you name it–and I had access to all of it.  I worked crazy hours and landed coverage for the hotel in The New York Times, Food & Beverage Magazine and ShowBiz, just to name a few.

Alas, the mountains were calling, and I wanted a richer life.  So, I moved to Boise, Idaho. I’ve been here for 12 years and am still in awe of Idaho’s beauty and variety of outdoor recreation.

my work

I started out as a broadcast and print journalist but after barely scraping by for 4 years, I moved to the other side of the fence, as they say.

My most recent job was at Drake Cooper, where I was  public relations director for nearly four years. I managed PR and social media for client campaigns, product launches, events, and promotions.

Before joining Drake Cooper, I was vice president of a Boise-based public relations agency where I headed up technology, real estate, and recreation/tourism accounts.

At Extended Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:XTND), I headed up corporate, analyst and media relations for all product lines and business units. For Trus Joist MacMillan, now a Weyerhaeuser company (NYSE:WY), I was responsible for corporate, company-wide internal and external communications. And, as mentioned, I was director of public relations at The Las Vegas Hilton (NYSE: HLT), where I was responsible for publicity, promotion and media relations efforts related to hotel, gaming, entertainment, and special event activities at one of the Hilton’s premiere properties.

My specialty is, and always has been, developing results-oriented strategic campaign plans, and executing them on time and on budget.

I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in communication.  I am a former adjunct professor at Boise State University where I taught upper-level communication courses on PR campaign planning, social media marketing and media relations.
